My name is Noemi, I’m 16 years old, and I go to East Valley High School. I’m in 10th grade, and I want to study to be a pediatrician and help all the moms have their babies. College costs a lot of money, so I think I’m going to have to work hard and ask for help to pay for it. Seriously, it’s hard for me to pay for college. My mom is looking for work, and my dad is working, but it’s not enough for college. And with all the bills we have to pay, it would be difficult. Without college, I can’t fulfill my dream of being a doctor.
Free college would help me a lot, so I wouldn’t be stressed about how I’m going to pay for everything and could focus on school. I’d like to help student parents by lending them money or finding them jobs, but I don’t have the means to do so. And finding places where they can receive help, like C4C, helps make a difference. So far, I haven’t heard of any place that helps immigrant students. I had cousins who were undocumented, and it was very difficult for them to stay in school and college; they had fewer opportunities.
That’s why I support all students having the same opportunities to study. I would like to tell the senators and representatives who support free college that all children should have the same opportunities, regardless of their legal status. Everyone wants to be someone in life, and their parents shouldn’t have to stress about whether or not they can afford to send their children to school. I support free college.
