Student Story: Brandon Servin

My name is Brandon Servin. I am a YVC student taking English classes. I am very proud to be a community college student. I would like to study drone piloting in the future, but I face financial barriers.

I currently have two jobs because with one, I pay my personal expenses, and with the other, I save to be able to study, but I feel physically tired. If college were free, I wouldn’t have so much physical wear and tear, so for me, the biggest pressure would be financial resources. If I didn’t have to think about paying for my studies, I would no longer have that pressure, and I would be able to achieve my goals.

For me, having free college is a hope of light in the middle of a storm. I am 20 years old. I would love to have a family, but while I am studying, I think I cannot do it because of economic issues. It is difficult to work and study, now the people who have it. A house is a lot of burdens, so a free college proposal would help a lot. However, studying and working simultaneously generates a lot of burden and stress. I invite the person who reads my testimony to help us; it would be an opportunity that would give people a chance to develop at an academic level and achieve dreams that people cannot imagine, regardless of their status.
