My name is Brisbani. I chose a community college because I did a part time running start during highschool and I decided to finish my prerequisites at Everett Community College, in order to transfer to a four year university.

It’s also more affordable this way and community colleges were closer to home. My career goals are to get my bachelors of science in nursing, get some experience in the field, and potentially become an instructor.
Community college is much more affordable than universities. I would say they are probably more than half the tuition than most universities in our state. A lot of students also get financial aid and scholarships, which reduces the cost exponentially. I haven’t experienced any barriers so far, I’ve been fortunate to qualify for financial aid, grants, and some scholarships. Free College would allow students to save money for education beyond the first 2 years of college. It would also allow students with financial burdens to get an associates degree that interests them. I also have younger siblings who would benefit from this because if some of them continue their education it will help my parents financially and give my siblings and others around the state more flexibility to focus on their education.
Expanding housing/rental assistance or food security resources provided by my college will give students the resources they need to obtain the benefits that they struggle with. It will give students the resources firsthand rather than searching for a long time, which could decrease stress. Without stress the students would have a better mindset leading to a positive impact on their education.
