My name is Jeriah Lawler. I am going into education because through some experiences, I found a meaning and a way to impact kids’ lives positively. I decided to attend Everett Community College because it was the cheaper option. I also got a job that made me realize my future job aspirations required a degree. I want to become a middle school teacher.
Community college could definitely be cheaper. Certain things are more expensive on campus. Materials, such as books can be found cheaper online. Instructors are able to push their product, which makes it a biased use of power in their curriculum and financially. Overall, prices should be reduced. In universities there are strategies being used to reduce prices and they should do the same for colleges. I started saving up excessively in 2019 by saving 60-70% of my monthly income. This was because I experienced the need for money and food. It also became a habit and value of when I was growing up.
Making the first two years of college for CTC students would impact my peers and I immensely. We could be financially comfortable and have little to no stress. More of our money could be saved and we could also invest it. We could dedicate more time to school, graduate faster, and be debt free.
